To generate a return on investment from Facebook advertising and boost school, corporate and party bookings
In early 2021, Oyster was approached by London’s leading paintball operator, Go Paintball, to create and manage paid social campaigns on Facebook and Instagram to promote both Go Paintball and their laser tag operation, Go Laser Tag, with the aim of increasing online sales. The client, a single-site operator, had read about the success we had achieved for another leisure operator using paid social advertising, which influenced his decision to choose Oyster to manage his company’s digital advertising on Facebook & Instagram.
Solution
Creating Facebook ads that convert
We began compiling target audiences for Go Paintball and Go Laser Tag and then developed a range of ads promoting various activities including paintball, laser tag, parties and corporate activities. Over time, we tested and tweaked activities each month in conjunction with the client, carefully analysing the results to increase our learning with the aim of maximising bookings. Along the way, we encountered several issues due to iOS 14 tracking changes, as well as changes made by Facebook, and we have worked with Go Paintball’s web developer to resolve these.

Facebook & Instagram advertising
Within the first month of advertising for Go Paintball and Go Laser Tag, we managed to yield a return on ad spend of 7.36. This was a great start to Facebook and Instagram advertising, however we knew we could achieve a higher ROAS. Just two months later, through various trials and tests, we managed to achieve an average ROAS of 10.44 for the month. This means for every £100 spend we generated £1,044 in online bookings. We continue to test new ad creatives and refine our audience targeting, and we hope to trial new platforms to maximise return on investment.
