Challenge
To create an impactful trade show stand design on a challenging stand footprint!
After the huge success of Cigré 2022, where Mitsubishi Electric PSG saw over 10% of the shows attendance visit the stand, Oyster was again approached to build on this success and create an impactful trade exhibition stand design for them at Cigré in Paris 2024. Unfortunately, the stand had a rather challenging footprint due to a relocation with the promise of a larger stand presence! With new bespoke 3D printed products and a large product display that had to be carefully imported from the USA and more interactive displays, we needed to create a clean, modern and appealing stand that stood out from their competitors, attract visitors and help generate new business leads.
Solution
At the heart of the Mitsubishi Electric Power Systems Group’s presence at the event was a stunning 3D-printed bespoke model, meticulously crafted to showcase cutting-edge DCCB grid technology. This centrepiece captured attention and acted as a focal point, flanked by interactive screens on elegant plinths displaying complementary technologies and innovations. The setup emphasised Mitsubishi Electric’s leadership in HVDC solutions, blending physical models with digital interactivity to engage visitors and communicate the brand’s pioneering vision.
To further enhance the experience, a new bar counter design invited attendees to enjoy coffee while exploring the stand, creating a welcoming environment for networking. A large 85″ LED TV wall supported the displays, broadcasting key product messages and unique selling points, this included animations created from the DCCB 3D printed model. Interactive iPad stands complemented the exhibits, offering in-depth content for deeper exploration. Together, these elements transformed the stand into a dynamic and engaging space, seamlessly integrating physical and digital features to leave a lasting impression on visitors.
Results
According to the show promoters at CIGRE, Mitsubishi Electric Power Systems Group’s stand achieved the highest visitor footfall of any exhibitor, cementing its position as the standout presence at the event. Building on the success of 2022, the 2024 stand set a new benchmark, thanks to the eye-catching 3D-printed bespoke model and cutting-edge interactive displays that drew constant attention. The new private meeting area was in high demand throughout the event, facilitating valuable discussions and underscoring the importance of Mitsubishi Electric’s offerings in the DCCB grid space.
To ensure a seamless experience for the client, the shipping and handling of the intricate display models to and from Japan and the USA were meticulously managed by Oyster Studios. Both the stand build and breakdown were personally overseen, providing peace of mind that every detail was taken care of. This attention to detail ensured that nothing was left to chance, resulting in a show that was an unqualified success on every level, solidifying Mitsubishi Electric Power Systems Group’s leadership in the sector.

Cigre 2024 was an important event for Mitsubishi Electric and one of our most successful exhibitions.
Oyster’s stand design made the most of the challenging footprint, creating an impressive space that attracted a record-breaking number of visitors to our stand. We received significant interest, particularly in our new technologies, including DCSS/DCCB and SF6-free switchgear. This event not only allowed us to establish new connections with potential customers but also strengthened relationships with our existing clients.
