Exhibition Stand Design

Eye-catching trade exhibition stand design for Mitsubishi Electric Power Systems Group

Challenge

Creating an impactful trade exhibition stand design

Throughout the year the various divisions of Mitsubishi Electric promote their products and services at trade shows and exhibitions around the world. As part of this activity, Oyster was approached by Mitsubishi Electric Power Systems Group (PSG) to create an impactful trade exhibition stand design for them at Cigré in Paris to launch two new products – their new DCCB (Direct Current Circuit Breaker) and the 400kv GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear). To complement these impressive new products, they needed an original, contemporary and appealing stand to reflect the company’s brand values, attract visitors and help generate new business leads.

Solution

Key design features including the generous use of recessed LED lighting that lent a crisp, modern feel

Our in-house design team began by conceptualising trade exhibition stand designs and used 3D rendering to bring them to life. The stand design was complicated by the venue’s height restrictions – normally exhibition stands can be 5 metres high or more, whereas this site was limited to a height of only 3 metres – and an awkward support pillar located within the stand boundary. Both were significant obstacles to overcome.

The 3D renders we created demonstrated to the client how effective their stand would be ahead of construction and incorporated key design features including the generous use of recessed LED lighting that lent a crisp, modern feel. We then meticulously designed and produced two intricate display models to promote PSG’s new products since we were unable to ship the products from Japan. These display models were constructed by hand in the UK and then shipped to the venue in Paris using a specialist courier service.

The exhibition was very good this time – it was probably our best ever in terms of footfall to our stand and the interest in our products. The biggest interest came from the DCCB product and the 400kV GIS model looked really good too.

Results

The stand was extremely eye-catching and the display models succeeded in attracting a large number of visitors

The resulting trade exhibition stand design effectively integrated the pillar into the design, maximised floor space for the products and included a private meeting area, while at the same time the stand remained light, airy and uncluttered, despite the venue having such a low ceiling. The stand was extremely eye-catching and the display models succeeded in attracting a large number of visitors. Our client was extremely happy with how the show went and deemed it their most successful Cigré yet. Our stand concept succeeded in attracting a high footfall and generating hundreds of valuable enquiries for PSG’s products.

Our client was also really impressed with the display models and thought they were a fantastic addition to the stand, so much show that they requested them to shipped to Japan to be showcased in their head office.
